The Globe7 VTM (Video Telephone Music) Player Beta Version is a SIP User Agent [RFC -3261], complying with JAIN SIP stack which supports the SIP protocol functionality described in RFC 3261. Globe7 is a multi-featured yet cost competitive phone designed for enterprises and residential use. It has unique features that are not available in other SIP phones. It has been fully tested for interoperability with many third party equipment vendors. It is based on the widely deployed SIP protocol design to meet the requirements of service providers and system integrators.

Globe7 software uses the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) for the real-time transmission of audio over the Internet. It consists of a data part and a control part. The data part of RTP is an application-layer framing protocol that provides support for applications with real time properties (e.g., timing reconstruction, loss detection, content identification). The control part called Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) monitors the data delivery and provides feedback to the senders.
Globe7 has used the Java Media Framework (JMF 2.0) for audio transmission and receiving.
JMF has an RTP API which can be used to transmit a captured real-time audio through an RTP session to a desired destination (an IP address and a port pair). Feedback from the receiver can also be obtained in RTCP receiver reports and this feedback is used for adapting the encoding parameters at the source.
