Placer is a useful and easy to use tool designed for image processing.
It has two cases: contouring and Haar object detection. First one based on good old threshold and trace approach. It starts from digital photos(in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF) and produces contour curves.
Second one is a modern machine learning algorithm. It is to detect any small patterns (like faces) on an image. It consists of two parts: classifier training and object detection. For objects boundaries both steps use contours made as below.
After optional Flood Filling(for background zeroing), Smooth, contrast Adjust, Threshold(does bitone image) and Dilate(for pin filling) - Trace produces curves and Unpair skips duplicate. Then curves are Delete, Rotate, Move manually one by one.
Haar samples could be also selected by drawing polygon Line or Rect. All contours made in any way should be aligned to a sample Stack. Training will produce XML file in a folder chosen. Detect will use that XML to find objects in a Rectified image
