CodeShark is a powerful Hybrid G-code programming/editing/communications tool for your shop.
There are 2 ways to use CodeShark Lahte; as an editor and as a G-code programming tool. If you only want to use the editing features of CodeShark and have no need for the programming features then drag the splitter bar to the far left with the mouse until it is no longer visible. This will allow you the maximum possible editing area while keeping the programming features hidden. They are still accesable but will not be visible until you re-position the splitter bar.
All of the programming features are on the Outlook Style Bar on the left side of the CodeShark window. They are divided into catagories for easy access and display. This also allows you to view only the programming features that you need. You can double-click on any item to open it or use the arrow keys on the keyboard and the Enter key to select an item.
Some menu items only appear when there is an open file or you have started to program. There wouldn't be any need to see the Program-Mirror menu item if there wasn't any code to mirror. Other menu items are always visible because they relate to functions that can be used with or without an open file such as CNC-send and receive.
Most of the features in CodeShark are self-documenting but there are some concepts which will help you to understand how things work such as the Control File.
Codeshark allows you to define a control-file, which is a file that is used to define the import format when you select an item in CodeShark such as Drill-Start. You can change this file at any time by selecting the Options-Control File menu item and selecting a different file. The Control files can be on any drive that is accesable to CodeShark at runtime so you could keep the files on a networked drive to share them between different computers. You should have a different Control File for each type of cnc control that you have, that way if you are programming a turning file today you can switch to a turning control file to import the correct tool-start and other templates, tommorow y
