zpad is a FREE, small and powerful text editor. A fully optimized design means fast loading and an improved handling of large files over the standard Windows Notepad (up to 4GB memory buffer). Customizable look and feel, remember last files open option, tabbed file opening, syntax highlighting for coders, multilevel undo/redo and many other useful features.

Customizable means just that - There's an option to set the editor just to your requirements, and zpad will remember these settings each time opened. Want the classic Notepad look? No problem. Want menu icons? No problem. Want a simple stripped down interface? You got it..

zpad features
  • Large text buffer: The power of the zpad memory handling system means speed when working with large files. Opening and saving, copy and paste of large amounts of text are all fast.
  • Customizable look: Click here to see some of the ways zpad can be styled. Add things, take things away.. want a status bar? - Have one. Don't want one? - Take it off.
  • Tabbed opening: Create new tabs for text editing and open files in this tab. There's an option to open all new files in a new tab, and each tab can be set up individually, or a general setting for them all. Each tab shows the icon of the file type. Drag tabs about to reorder, no problem.
  • Change tab style, and position.
  • Word count and character count.
  • All the standards, but with more: Find, find next, find pervious, replace text occurances. All under the edit menu.
  • Unlimited Undo / Redo - This is set at 1024 undo/redo levels by default. If you require more, there's an option for it.
  • Status bar shows current open file size, line count, character count and caps lock / insert modes.
  • Keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys for opening new tabs, closing tabs, opening files / saving files and just about everything else.
  • Gutter with bookmarks. Ctrl+Shift and a number sets the bookmark in the gutter. Ctrl+That Number, jumps you straight to that part of the page with the bookmark.
  • Enhanced printing system - Print text files with a customizable header and footer and margin, with extended print preview system. Print syntax highlighting for coders.
  • Associate text files with zpad - to open automatically with zpad when clicked rather than Notepad. It is recommended you update your text file icons with the zpad icons. Associate any file extension with zpad.
  • Syntax highlighting
  • Drag and drop files: You can drag and drop files into the zpad editor, which will then open that file.
  • Drag text about: You can highlight a section of text in the zpad editor, and drag it to another location.
  • Reopen last opened files with time and date.
  • Option to add zpad to your start menu, at the top, in the programs, or both.
  • Unique zpad 'stripped mode'. If you want a minimalist look, take a look at this.
