bG Monitor XM (Blood Glucose Monitor) is not just a glucose tracking system it also incorporates the many facets crucial to controlling your diabetes such as insulin control, blood pressure, health- care (working with your health-care team), diet, weight management, exercise, medication and most important -- stress management.

This application promotes a proactive management of your diabetes to help prevent the long term complications of diabetes. The philosophy is eat right, exercise well, and live longer!

bG Monitor XM features
Personal BGM File Data Management
  • bG Monitor XM allows you to save your personal data profile to a *.BGM file. This is your backup file containing your data profile for your diabetes management. A handy application of this is if you have more than one diabetic in the household - each user can have his/her own data profile in their own backup file!

    Blood Glucose Control
  • Monitor your blood sugar levels as often as you need. Calculate your blood sugar averages, and watch your status over time through detailed reports to be sure your risk levels are minimized. This component will help you keep on top of where you are in reference to achieving total control of your diabetes.

  • Print or preview your bG reports with or without comments, and measures in either mmol/L or mg/dL. Information to give you and your doctor a stronger perspective on your progress. bG Monitor XM allows you to switch from mmol/L to mg/dL on the fly. The color bar "Alert Status" is user configurable based on each individual's needs. You can set the normal range for example from 4 - 7 mmol/L, to perhaps 3.5 - 6.5 mmol/L. These settings are currently set to default guidelines but your healthcare professional may advise you to adjust your ranges depending on your health status.

    Health Care Management & Your Health Professionals
  • Store important data on your health care visits. This component enables you to journalize the various aspects of your health status related to the interaction with your health care team. This includes your family doctor, podiatrist, endocrinologist and other health care professionals.

  • Factors such as blood pressure, your HbA1c levels, cholesterol levels and other results can be entered here for your reference. It will assist you in understanding your health status at any point in time.

    Diet & Exercise Management

  • Journalize your daily meals to help you track and control your diet on a daily basis. Access the Glycemic Index Online Database to find out the GI values of what you eat.

  • Exercise contributes to very significant improvements in lowering blood sugars as well as multiple health benefits. As your physician will tell you, diet and exercise go hand in hand. Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water a day, and discover the magical benefits of lubricated joints and less pain and stiffness in the morning.

  • Diet & Exercise are the two most important things you need to master in order to take complete control of diabetes, particularly if you are Type II.

    Insulin Management
  • For Type I and Type IIs who require insulin, this section helps you track and manage your insulin injections on a daily basis. You can enter multiple records for a current day, for example if you use insulin before each meal and at bedtime, you can make a note of it here.

  • As well as the different types of insulin, the notes field allows you to document any important circumstances relevant to your insulin and/or blood glucose ranges. Insulin pump users can check the Infusion Set Change box as needed, and a new field in bG Monitor XM captures the Basal Rate as well.

    Weight Management
  • Weight control helps you to understand some of the factors of weight and how it affects your diabetes. If you are Type II, excess weight can increase insulin resistance. With these records you can keep track of your daily weight progress, as well as your BMI index.

  • As indicated in the Diet/Exercise section of this program, Diet and Exercise are paramount to controlling many issues as a diabetic. If you control your diet and exercise, you will automatically control your weight. Target your BMI in the 18.5 - 24.9 (Normal) range as much as possible.

    Medication Tracking
  • Track your daily medications intake. For the most part these medications are applicable to Type II Diabetics, however the Insulin Component handles Type I Diabetics daily insulin handling. Many Type I diabetics are usually on other medications as well for things such as high-blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol levels.

  • You can view the most common medications used to treat diabetes. A lot has changed since some of the first medications hit the market. In the medication field you can list the pills, and then indicate the dosage taken during the day. Add more details to the NOTES section.

    Stress Management
  • Learn how stress affects your daily life with diabetes. This includes physical, emotional and spiritual factors.

  • Factors such as job stress, family issues, financial worries, physical fitness levels, as well as your emotional health can all play havoc on your blood sugars. They can even hinder your effective management if not addressed.
