Let's assume you have a large .zip archive which have been password protected some considerable time ago.
For example, the trouble may be that, although you think you can remember the words that you have used, you could forget if you have used spacer characters or could not remember if the words have been capitalized. You may have spent a half an hour typing a variety of combinations with no success. If your password was quite long, say 20 characters, a brute force attack would be taken forever.
Atomic ZIP Password Recovery is designed to recover the lost or forgotten passwords to archives created with PKZip or WinZIP archiver (for RAR archives, please use Atomic RAR Password Recovery)
Atomic ZIP Password Recovery has easy-to-work and friendly user interface and uses 2 methods of attacks:
Brute-force attack.
There are two modes of password recovering under Brute-force attack method available in Atomic ZIP Password Recovery :
Automatic mode. If this mode is set, the program makes a password search basing on the most frequently used settings (such as capital and small letters, 0-9 figures, maximum length of 5 symbols).
Manual (user-defined) mode. You can try to start the user-defined mode if you have any idea about words, and characters you think were involved or surmise what was password's length. In that mode the program will take less time to get your answer.
Dictionary (wordlist) attack (finds passwords from special lists).
The program is able to save a current state (you can interrupt the program at any time, and restart from the same state later).
