PortFlash is an application which will help the PC security professionals and network admins. It scans through a list or range of IP addresses and ports looking for running services such as FTP or HTTP. This is useful in determining no only whether authorized services are functioning, but also if there are unauthorized services running.

If someone on the network has setup a rogue FTP or HTTP server, PortFlash can detect it. Portflash also adds functionality for finding domains and workgroups in a Microsoft Networking environment. This will enable you to find the personal computers on your network that belong to those domains and workgroups. Last but not least, the protocol statistics (TCP,UDP,& ICMP) that are compiled from your network will help you troubleshoot connection and traffic.

Use of PortFlash is pretty straightforward: Simply define a range or list of IP addresses and ports to be scanned and then start the scan. PortFlash will go through each IP checking the ports specified and when it finds an open port it will report back. If the open port it finds is in the list of well known ports it will inform you which services is generally run on that port.
