Without code, VB applications work like the Notepad SDI (Single Document Model) model - if you double click on a .TXT file you get a new instance.
But other applications, for example Microsoft Media Player and WinZip, detect if a window is already open to handle the file, and if it is that window is used to open the file.
This control allows you to specify the associated file type and handle all launches of that particular file type in a single instance of your application.
