There are many scientific, engineering, medical devices and instruments that use the RS-232 (serial port) interface to send data to a computer for further logging and analyzing. It works well when you can plug your device into your computer with a serial data cable. But, what if you need to gather information from remote devices that cannot be plugged into your PC directly?

Even having a device located in the next room can became a real problem. Needless to say, that it is a BIG problem if you need to obtain data from a mobile instrument used to make measurements in different locations in your city or even in a wider area.

ByteWedge Professional is a software that exports data from RS-232 devices to TCP/IP networks.

ByteWedge Professional includes a vast range of tools to process data from various devices. You can parse data on-the-fly, apply filters and load the results into databases or other applications. The program supports ODBC, OLE, DDE and other data interchange protocols. The program allows you to receive data from up to 255 local or remote devices simultaneously.

Here are some key features of "ByteWedge Professional":

  • 2-Way I/O allows you to send out commands or data to control your instruments - from within your application or directly from ByteWedge;
  • Supports export of data to MS Access, MSSQL or any other database using ODBC;
  • Supports export of data to any application;
  • Supports export of data to MS Excel via OLE;
  • Supports export of data to any Windows application using DDE;
  • Supports up to 255 COM Ports simultaneously;
  • Supports ASCII serial data;
  • Supports advanced data parsing and filtering of information regardless of type or data structure complexity;
  • Offers optional Disk File Logging mode intended for logging serial data received to a local file;
  • Capable of transferring data from any disk file directly into database of any type or any Windows application. The application operates much like ByteWedge, except for the data is read from a disk file instead of a serial port;
  • Capable of transferring data from any TCP/IP network port address directly into database of any type (including MS Access, MS Excel etc);
  • Includes FREE ComPort/IP Client, an application that connects to remote TCP/IP port and converts any existing RS232 Serial Port into a TCP/IP Port;
  • Includes FREE ComPort/IP Server, an application that converts any existing TCP/IP Port into an RS232 Serial Port;
  • Includes FREE TCP-File application that is capable of logging data from any number of TCP/IP sources to a disk file;
  • Includes FREE Serial-File application that can be used for logging data to a file from up to 255 serial ports simultaneously;
  • User Friendly Interface.
